Determined

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

The four month hiatus from blogging has been refreshing but could not resist an opportunity to share a few thoughts about today's Broncos victory. Tim Tebow is a passionate warrior who competes with all of his heart, creates contagious team energy and leads with passion. Tebow and his teammates won a football game today in dramatic fashion but win or lose he lacks nothing because He knows and has decided whose team he is on.

His mind and heart are determined and will not be influenced by an outcome. Win or lose Tebow (and Polamalu) have determined to follow the Lord and as Psalm 23 says they lack nothing, Tebow lacks nothing after today's game and Polamalu lacks nothing. God ordains both mountain tops and valleys in our lives and He unconditionally loves us wherever we find ourselves.

Many might say "of course they lack nothing look at all the $ professional athletes make". We lack nothing when the Lord is our shepherd regardless of our job or financial status. The more time we spend in God's Word, meditation, prayer and worship the more convinced our minds, hearts and spirits will be that we lack nothing. Winning and losing is not our supply, God's presence inside of us through a relationship with Christ is our abundant supply, supernatural contentment and therefore lacking nothing.

Joseph was imprisoned and he prospered while in a "losing" situation because he determined which team he was on. "Gen 39:20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden."

Many times we think God's favor and blessing is conditional to winning or positive outcomes. God is as much with Troy as He is with Tim tonight. Different outcomes and different perspectives to praise God from.

Job praised God after he "losing" all of his children: "Job 1:20 Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said:“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.”22 In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing." Praise is one of our greatest weapons especially in adversity.

Finally, not only has Tebow determined whose team He is on he has also determined to play for the team as well. "Col 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth" Tebow has determined to set his mind & heart on the things above and his actions and words follow. We all have different platforms and we may not be outspoken about Jesus like the Denver QB is but we can all use our gifting to serve somehow starting tomorrow.

May we determine whose team we are on, be convinced while winning or losing we lack nothing, turn our pain into praise and be determined to contribute to the team by setting our minds then actions on the things above!

Make it a great night!
