"Whatever you do" translates into "whatever you do":) Wherever we serve and whatever we do for the Lord? I am often encouraged by Col 3:23 when I am doing something for God or when I need more energy to finish a tough road bike. However, sometimes it is difficult to receive the scripture from the Holy Spirit when I am exhausted from a full day of ministry and my wife needs me to live it out at home.
The Word of God is referred to as a "double edge sword" because we fight with it and we are pierced with it when we need coaching. Memorizing scripture enables the Holy Spirit to bring truth to our circumstances for encouragement and for conviction. Col 3:23 will assist in chasing passivity out of our lives especially in the areas where there is vulnerability or a tendancy to fall short of working for the Lord.
Athletes love this verse in pre game talks but do not always apply it to their academics. Coaches love it in pregame as well and want their players to play at a Col 3:23 level but may not enjoy or implement the verse in their marriage especially when fighting fatigue. Let us be passionate about memorizing scripture and may we have eyes to see the times when the Holy Spirit is trying to coach us through unappealing situations to work, compete and serve the Lord with all our heart.
Make it a great day!
Coach C
