Position

"Acts 3: 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong."

So many times we come to God with an agenda. We are like the lame man in Acts 3 who gave his attention to Peter "expecting to get something from them." Scripture tells us that God all ready knows what we need before we ask or think. But we often are guilty of being one dimensional with selfish prayer requests, a position of lameness.

By going to God with an appreciation for who He is and not what we need will bless our spirit and souls. "Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God". God has been challenging me to build upon my understanding and knowledge of who He is over my desires and wants. For those of you struggling with how to pray, try T.A.C.O.S. (Thanksgiving, Adoration, Confession, Others, Self).

The lame man received more than money could buy. He received healing and contentment through the power of Christ. Are we satisfied with Christ Alone where all hope is found? As we seek after God for who He is, allow God's Word to change us, and pray we build a spiritual account and depth that we can withdraw from for others. God is calling us out from our position of spiritual lameness.

Despite all Peter's short comings of his time with Jesus, he was in a position to give something away. Acts 2 tells us they were committed to teaching, prayer and fellowship. Peter was once "lame", ask the rooster. We may not be physically lame but maybe we are "lame" in our Spirit. Peter and the disciples fought lameness by committing to a daily position of prayer, word and fellowship.

Oswald Chambers said, "We are either starving or nourishing our Spirit." We celebrated with a Coach last week who prayerfully fought through 8 years of fear and passivity in sharing his faith. By using the super natural weapons of prayer and being faithful to read God's Word, this Coach moved his position from "lameness" to God's Power and led someone to Jesus Christ. The Coach did not give silver or gold, he gave an account of faith which delivered an eternal dividend of the salvation of a friend.

Coach Jeff Braxton (picture above) is someone who faithfully seeks to feed his Spirit and aspires to give God's power to his followers. Look forward to seeing Jeff Thursday night at our 5th annual Victory Celebration at Wyoming UMC in Dover DE 7pm. Jeff is a ordinary Coach who has been with Jesus. I pray Jeff, the other Coach referenced and the Apostle Peter's example inspires us to seek God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength trusting Him to move us from lameness to a position of power.

Do you have a "lame" Spirit?
What prevents us from walking in God's Power like Peter walked?
Is our prayer life self centered or God centered?
Does our daily walk with Christ mirror Peter and the Apostles?

Consider attending our Coaches weekend to breakthrough your "lameness" of Spirit, April 15-17, 2011 Lewes DE.

Make it a great day!
Coach C
