Half Empty or Half Full

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Regardless of where we are in the journey of faith God is able to sustain us and empower us to weather our storms. The day prior to Anthony Robles winning a national championship(pictured above), I had the opportunity to break bread at the FCA Wrestling breakfast prior to Fridays matches with my good friend, Coach Bill Lam.

Inspired by my time with Coach Lam, I had a strong leading to tune into Saturdays final matches called on ESPN by Tim Johnson, 17 year organizer of the FCA Wrestling Breakfast and a FCA regional director. Seeing Anthony Robles stand on the top platform during the medal ceremony brought tears to my eyes and provided a great teachable moment for my two oldest boys. We talked about enduring difficulty like a good soldier of Christ.

If we have ever seen a good soldier it is Anthony Robles. Especially inspiring was the young man humbly giving God the glory for his achievement and expressing gratitude to his mom for her encouragement. Anthony wrestled his way to a national title while enduring the adversity of having one leg. His mother chose to speak life into her son regardless of his "half full cup".

The Bible tells us life and death are in the power of the tongue (Prov 18:21)and "Ephesians 4:29Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." What an inspiration to see a mom who believed in her son, spoke into his life and raised him to love God.

The example inspired me as a dad and husband. Will I consistently speak life into my "first team"? In their significant moments of athletic achievement will my children and men I disciple demonstrate the spiritual depth needed to give God the credit and attention for their achievements?

One would conclude this mother often spoke life and called out (prayed) to God often for her son and in a defining athletic moment they experienced one of God's promises: Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

May this young wrestlers and his mothers example and testimony be an inspiration to all us us on many levels. Is your glass half empty or half full? Will we call out to the Lord like scripture tells us to do? Are we speaking life into our followers?

We hope you will consider coming to our annual Victory Celebration on March 31 where you will hear inspiring local testimonies like Anthony's. We are anticipating a standing room only crowd please RSVP asap by contacting me. 302-883-3113 or rchambers@fca.org

Make it a great life!

Enjoyed reading your comments. I was also at the prayer breakfast in Philadelphia. Thanks for the perspective of speaking life into our children and athletes
