Eph 5:15Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), 16Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil
Recently read an article on ESPN.com about the Chicago Bulls photographer who was impacted deeply by children in Cambodia (pictured) who spend their time supporting their family looking for items to sell in a trash dump. He redeemed his time and reallocated his resources to give the kids a better life. One of the original children he met just graduated from college. Talk about living with purpose and wisdom.
As I waited to share the Gospel at haltime of the Super Bowl, God reminded of the amount of time I have invested in sport and searching "through trash" in my lifetime; watching sports, playing sports, coaching sports, partying. I pondered the question: How many collective days have I spent on sports and selfish temporary pursuits?
Scripture tells us life is a vapor. Do I really operate daily with this in mind? The original version of Eph 5:16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Where can our time be redeemed before the vapor is gone? We can live different lives in a complex world, lives of significance that make an eternal impact. Lives are waiting to be impacted but we have to redeem our time.
Make it a great night!
