Hands Free

January 1st, Delaware became a "Hands Free" state. Hands free from cell phones that is. Great decision based upon accidents and putting ourselves in harms way. I battled consistently with not texting and driving prior to the change.

In a spiritual sense, we are in harms way going hands free as well. Can we exist, grow, obey, survive without our hands on the Word? We profess Jesus as Savior & Lord but do not seek to be guided and refined in His Word? Is a sermon a sermon without scripture? I found myself in a spiritual valley over the past month and I was hands and knees free often, avoiding reading and praying to get out.

Luke 6: 46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"
shows us the disciples had the same issue. Jesus challenged them to follow his direction. If we are hands free we cannot follow Him well. The story of Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones is facinating: Ezekiel 37:4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!" The Word brought dry bones to life! God help us to be hands on!

The Word, mentors and Prayer brought me out of the valley I found myself in. Authentic and reproducing Disciples cannot be hands free. "This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life." Psalm 119:50. Attempt to redeem your time to avoid a hands free walk with Jesus. If you are in a hands free state, consider replacing the time invested in your cell in the car with prayer, solitude or listening to God's Word (faith comes by hearing) or a great teacher of the Word.

God wants to direct us, our family and our followers through His GPS, the Bible. Can we navigate without it? Can living water flow through us without it? Maybe we are afraid of what He might show us? Can we lead our team without reading the "Game Plan" and meeting with our "Offensive Coordinator"?

God help us in our brokenness and disobedience.
Make it a great day!
